To receive the protection stated, The One should be applied generously with at least ½ teaspoon for face and neck (¼ for face and ¼ for neck). This is roughly equivalent to 3 finger-lengths worth.

Sunscreen application is advised as “generously” to account for variances in people’s application and impressions of how much ¼ / ½ teaspoon actually is.

Applying less sunscreen does not “lower the SPF number” but can drastically lower the overall protection of the sunscreen by providing incomplete coverage of the skin.
